Six Time Track Champion Eric Spangler leads all 40 laps to win the Pace Performance 40

Lake City, Michigan (Sunday September 3rd, 2017): The American Ethanol Late Model Tour headed to Merritt Speedway for race number 10 of their 2017 campaign. The cars and stars of the premier Michigan traveling tour competed for the third time at the 3/10s (.300) mile dirt oval in Lake City, Michigan. Eric Spangler, the six time Merritt Speedway Track Champion, led all 40 laps of the Pace Performance 40, to take home the $4000 payday.

Spangler and the defending AELMT Champion Dona Marcoullier, led the field out for the A-Main. Once chief starter Marc Henry dropped the green flag, Spangler pulled away with early lead and would never have to look back from there, going to to victory lane, after the caution free feature. Marcoullier ended up as the second place finisher. Brandon Thirlby, Travis Stemler and Nick Kurtz capped off the top five. Thirlby, Rich Bell, and Spangler scored the heat wins. The fast qualifiers of the night were; Thirlby (13.863), Stemler (14.420), and Kurtz (14.729).

The next event for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour is Saturday, September 23rd at Berlin Raceway. Berlin is a 4/10 (.400) mile pavement oval that will be covered with clay for three race dates; September 23rd, September 30th and October 7th. The American Ethanol Late Model and American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance will highlight all three events.

About American Ethanol

American Ethanol is a partnership between Growth Energy and the National Corn Growers Association and is a collaborative-effort marketing campaign to increase awareness of the reliability, performance capabilities and affordability of American made E15 Ethanol. Growth Energy, an ethanol industry group, and the National Corn Growers Association formed the American Ethanol partnership which highlights E15, a high-performance fuel, providing the same drivability with increased engine performance as regular gasoline. It’s a 15% Ethanol blend made with American ethanol from corn grown in our nation’s heartland and an 85% Gas blend. After extensive testing, NASCAR adopted the fuel for use in all three of their national racing series in 2011. The race teams and engine builders were heavily involved in the transition process, and have since reported high praise for the fuel, which boosts horsepower while reducing emissions.
