Motor City Racing Promotions Officials Focus on Safety Education
Rochester Hills, Michigan (Monday, December 11, 2017): On the first weekend of December, the motorsports community gathers in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana for the annual Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show. Four Motor City Racing Promotions (MCRP) representatives joined managing partners from the MCRP affiliated organizations of the American Ethanol Late Model Tour, American Ethanol Modified Tour, Birch Run Speedway and Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt.
Motor City Racing Promotions officials attended a variety of seminars and meetings throughout the enormous show at the Indiana Convention Center. Safety in the short track industry was among the primary focuses of MCRP officials during this year’s convention. Officials spent approximately 16 hours in different safety related training and educational seminars. “The PRI trade show is an invaluable opportunity for companies like ours in the short track racing industry.” stated MCRP President, Scott Menlen. “I can’t imagine not attending this show. The education we received will enable us to take some giant steps towards an even better motorsports officiating program, especially safety, in 2018.”
After a successful day-one at the convention, Thursday night, Motor City Racing Promotions representatives had dinner with members of Kalamazoo Track Services (KTS) safety team. “Thursday night (we had a) great dinner with some very big supporters of track and driver safety.” stated a KTS spokesperson on their official Facebook page Sunday night. “Huge thank you to Scott Menlen, Dennis Maher, American Ethanol Late Model / Modified Tour and Motor City Racing Promotions.” they added. The Kalamazoo Track Services safety team and Motor City Racing Promotions are two organizations currently placing a large amount of resources into short track safety within the state of Michigan.
American Ethanol Late Model & Modified Tour managers in attendance had a productive trip as well. Several meetings were held with existing and potential sponsors, race tracks and media partners. New officiating tools and products to enhance the fans experience are slated to debut on the Tours in the spring of 2018. “We are looking forward to rolling out new features that will help us continue to allow the fans to get closer to the action and be more involved with our races.” American Ethanol Late Model / Modified Tour Director, Nick Rice commented. “We are happy to report we were able to make significant progress on our 2018 schedule. We have some very exciting events in the works”.
The new managers of Birch Run Speedway and Event Center made their first trip to the PRI trade show last week. Birch Run Speedway and MCRP officials had great conversations with many race teams excited for the 2018 season at Birch Run which will feature racing on a regular basis at the historic speedway for the first time since 2013. Two racing events schedule in 2018 have already been announced, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour season opener on Sunday, April 29th and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Masters of the Pro’s 200 on Friday, June 8th.
Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP (SOD) officials made two significant announcements during PRI 2017. Engine Pro will once again serve as the title sponsor and ARP has signed on as the presenting sponsor of SOD and their “Beyond Limits” format for a third season.
