Lake Odessa, MI (May 17, 2018) – The 2018 race season for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) is off to a rocketing start. A huge crowd and 33 late models filled Montpelier Motor Speedway for the AELMT season opener on May 5th. Last Friday, May 11, an impressive 48 late models were on the grounds of Attica Raceway Park for the Bilstein 40. Race number three for the AELMT was set to be ran on Saturday, May 12th at Fremont Speedway however, mother nature had other ideas. As the 4th season for the AELMT rolls on, a few schedule adjustments needed to be made for both tours; AELMT and American Ethanol Modified Tour presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods).
The first schedule adjustment involves the American Ethanol Modified Tour. The AEmods event, originally scheduled for Friday, June 8th at I-96 Speedway has been moved to Saturday, September 1st at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan. Scheduling conflicts within multiple parties have been sited as the reason for the change.
“The American Ethanol Modified Tour is a great series” stated I-96 Speedway Promoter, Jeff Dice. “Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts between both the tour and track’s new managing parties have caused us to move the event. We look forward to having the opportunity to schedule an American Ethanol Modified race next season”, he added.
The American Ethanol Late Model Tour event at Millstream Speedway, that was cancelled in March, has finally found a replacement venue and date; Merritt Speedway on Sunday, September 2nd.
With these two events moving to Merritt Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, the traditional end of summer, up-north, appearance for the American Ethanol Tours has been restored. Saturday, September 1st will be championship night for the Merritt Speedway Late Model Division and Sunday, September 2nd will be championship night for the Speedway’s UMP Modified Division. The AEmods will race Saturday evening and the AELMT will race on Sunday evening. Some fans say this event marks the end of the regular season for the American Ethanol Late Model & Modified Tours, since the Tours then move south to Berlin Raceway in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the final three races of the season.
“We are excited to have the American Ethanol Tours back on the schedule Labor Day weekend”, exclaimed Merritt Speedway Promoter, Mike Blackmer. “It’s been such a great event in the past, our local championships complemented by American Ethanol makes for an excellent race weekend to finish the summer schedule at Michigan’s Premier Dirt Tack”.
Officials from the American Ethanol Late Model Tour and Fremont Speedway are continuing to work on a reschedule date for the May 12th AELMT event, suspended due to weather. More information will be made available soon.
