Lake Odessa, MI (May 24, 2018) – For the second time this month the cars and stars of the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) are gearing up for a double header weekend, however if mother nature minds her own business, this will be the first fully completed double header of the 2018 season. On top of that, this weekend’s AELMT racing, presented by POET Bio Fuels, serves as the home town opener for the Tour.
The weekend gets underway on Friday night during the YellowHose.com 40 presented by NUVU Fuel from I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan. AELMT points leader Rusty Schlenk has run well at the 4/10s mile clay oval in recent weeks posting a top 5 finish during the May 18th heat races (rain forced the postponement of the Features) and picking up a Sunday Showdown Feature win on May 20th. Other AELMT stars have had plenty of practice during the bi-week as well, including Eric Spangler, Nick Kurtz, Logan Arntz and Brandon Thirlby, among others.
Saturday features the Allstar Performance 40 from Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan. No cars have seen the bullring oval since the conclusion of the 2017 season due to extreme weather. Last year Eric Spangler broke the track record on his way to victory lane during the July race, and Rich Bell is the only other driver with a win at Thunderbird with the AELMT coming during the 2016 campaign.
Join us all weekend long with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. EST Friday night, and 6:30 p.m. EST Saturday night.
