Lake Odessa, MI (June 1, 2018) – Coming off the first successful double header weekend of the 2018 season, drivers, officials, and fans await the next event for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and the season opener for the American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEMODT). Set for Wednesday, June 6th, anticipation is growing for the 4th Annual Merritt Showdown from Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan.
Last year’s event marked the first time that the two premier tours would race on the same night, at the same track, before the same crowd. Fans packed the Merritt Speedway to see the best cars and stars battle it out for the bragging rights of being the winner of the Showdown. Eric Spangler, who went on to win the Track Championship, won the AELMT 40 lap feature event (run a day late due to rain). The AEMODT portion of the program saw Jacob Poel drive through the field to win the AEMODT crown jewel.
This year, drivers of the AELMT race for a $5,000 pay day while the AEMODT drivers compete for $2,000 to win. Pit Gates open at 2:00 for the special Wednesday show, Grandstands open at 4:00, Hot Laps start at 5:45, with Qualifying at 6:15 and racing at 7:00 p.m. For more information on Merritt Speedway, log onto merrittspeedwaymi.com.
