American Ethanol Tours Brace for Michigan-Indiana Double

April 17, 2019

Lake Odessa, MI (Wednesday, April 17, 2019) - It’s back to racing action for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and the American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods).  This weekend, the AELMT will embark on their first double-header weekend of the season, while the AEmods will make their first ever trip to a popular Indiana Speedway.

The AELMT will make their first trip of the season to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI for the Ice Breaker.  Tour championship contenders Rusty Schlenk, Eric Spangler, Brandon Thirlby and others are expected to battle it out in hopes of coming out on top of the AELMT points standings and collecting the first win of the season in the Mitten State.

Last year, Rusty Schlenk saw his hopes of a feature win go up in mangled sheet metal after a late race restart saw he and Rich Bell get together in turn two, eventually resulting in Schlenk on his lid.  That would open the door for eventual 2018 Tour Champion, Brandon Thirlby to get his first and only win of the season.  This is the earliest Michigan race in Tour history, and a win Friday, could propel a driver into a solid points chase for 2019.

Pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5:00 p.m.  On track action begins with hot laps at 6:30 p.m., with American Ethanol Qualifying to follow.  The first American Ethanol Green flag waves at 8:00 p.m. with Heat Race action.

Then, on Saturday, the AELMT will make a return trip to Plymouth, Indiana’s Plymouth Speedway for the Iroquois BioEnergy 40.  The event will mark the first time that the AELMT has been to Plymouth Speedway since 2017, when Richmond, Indiana’s, Steve Casebolt raced to victory over Tim Manville and eventual Tour Champion, Dona Marcoullier.

Plymouth Speedway gates open at 3:00 p.m.  On track action begins with hot laps at 5:00 p.m., with American Ethanol Qualifying to follow.  The first American Ethanol Green flag waves at 6:00 p.m. with Heat Race action.

Joining them, making their first ever trip to Plymouth Speedway, is the AEmods.  The Tour will take on the Speedway for the second event of the 2019 season. Expected to attend the event along with AEmods regulars, is 2018 Plymouth Speedway UMP Modified Champion, Derek Losh.  Losh dominated the 2018 season, winning 12 events. Also expected to compete is Frank Marshall, who came up just short in the season opening event at LaSalle Speedway on March 31st.

All of the weekend’s events can be heard live, and for free, on the Motor City Racing Network.  Just log onto aelmt.com or aemodt.com and click, “Race Day Live”. Also, be sure to keep up with race day updates on social media, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
