American Ethanol Tours Back in Action with Huge Weekend

May 15, 2019

Lake Odessa, MI (Wednesday, May 15, 2019) - The American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods) has been idle since their March 31st season opener from LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois.  The intensity builds this weekend, as crews prepare for a massive tripleheader that begins in the Tour’s home state of Michigan and finishes with two shows in Indiana.

Friday, May 17th the AEmods will take on I-96 Speedway for the first time since June of 2017 when an impressive three car battle came right down to the wire.  In the event, Jacob Poel waged a battle with Collin Thirlby and David Mielke while they tried to navigate lapped traffic. With two laps to go, Poel took Thirlby and Mielke three wide into turns one and two - the cluster raced back around, still trying to find their way around the back markers, and took the white flag.  As they did, Poel split his competition, and took the lead into turn one for the final time, while also navigating slower traffic. Poel went on to collect the win en route to the inaugural Tour Championship. Fans can expect a great show, as UMP Modifieds do not see I-96 Speedway very often, plus, they are paired up with the Great Lakes Super Sprints and Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series.  The green flag flies at 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the AEmods join the American Ethanol Late Model Tour for a first ever trip to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana.  The pair will take on the exciting Speedway just one time in 2019, so drivers will be battling for a chance to write their name in the history book and a nice $4,000 prize for AELMT, and $1,500 for the AEmods.  Hot Laps begin at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, with racing action to follow.

Then, the weekend finale goes off on Sunday from Gas City I-69 Speedway for the American Ethanol Showdown.  For the first time in recent memory, the Indiana bull ring will welcome Super Late Models for a chance at another $4,000 payday.  As for the AEmods, they’ll battle for an increased $2,000 payday, and a chance to be better prepared for their return in September.  The first American Ethanol Green Flag of the night flies at 6:00 p.m.
