Hoosier Autumn Classic Next for AELMT

September 25, 2019

Lake Odessa, MI (Wednesday, September 25, 2019) - The American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) is gearing up for another impressive event during the 2019 season, the Hoosier Autumn Classic from Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana.  The richest weekend of the 2019 season for the AELMT features a pair of $2,500 to win races on Friday, under a unique format - and then the weekend is capped off with a 50 lap, $12,000 to win show on Saturday.

Not much about Friday’s portion of the Hoosier Autumn Classic will be “standard race procedure”, and that’s exactly the way race promoter, Tony Izzo, Jr. has it planned.  Drivers will compete in American Ethanol Qualifying, Heat Races, and Last Chance Qualifiers, as usual throughout Friday evening - then things get wild. A heads up evening builds to the first $2,500 to win, 25 lap feature event, where 23 cars will battle to take home an American Ethanol win.  When the checkered flag flies, a winner will be marked down in the history books, but it won’t be time to celebrate.

At the conclusion of the first 25 lap feature, the field will be stopped on the Speedway, and all lead lap cars will be completely inverted, with lap cars starting behind them as they were running.  All the scoring marks will be reset, and a brand new, 25 lap AELMT feature will roar to life from the Playground of Power. When the dust settles on that race, victory lane celebrations will be held for both winners, and the top four point earners from the combined shows, will be locked in to Saturday’s $12,000 to win event, where the fans can determine their starting position (Click here for more details).

Saturday, another heads up day of racing is on the card, with no inverts for the entire day, as drivers from across the country look for the $12,000 prize.  Minus the top four point earners who are locked into the show, as well as earners 5-8 who are locked onto the pole of heat races 1-4, from Friday, everyone will go through American Ethanol Qualifying, Heat Races, and Last Chance Qualifiers to again set a 23 car stage for the 50 lap Hoosier Autumn Classic main event.

The last time the AELMT visited the Playground was August of 2017 when Richmond, Indiana’s Steve Casebolt drove to YellowHose.com Victory Lane, holding off a late race charge from St. Jacob, Illinois’ Tim Manville, for the $4,000 payday.  Eventual two-time Champion Dona Marcoullier came home third ahead of Travis Stemler and Trip Gerrald.

In 2019, the trip to Plymouth Speedway has more than just the combined $17,000 in first place prize money to offer for three drivers.  Brandon Thirlby, Travis Stemler, and Logan Arntz are all hoping for separation during the 2019 Championship Points battle. The Hoosier Autumn Classic marks the final weekend before the Championships from I-96 Speedway on October 12th. Defending Tour Champion, Thirlby comes into the weekend with just a 26 point advantage over Ionia, Michigan’s Travis Stemler.  Stemler, the former Rookie of the Year, is searching for his first AELMT Championship. Not to be forgotten, is 20-year-old Vestaburg, Michigan driver Logan Arntz. Trailing by 82 points coming into the weekend, Arntz is looking to rebuild solid performances at the end of the year. His only win this season came from Thunderbird Raceway on June 22nd. Since his win, Artnz has not seen a podium finish, despite strong runs throughout the season.

The Hoosier Autumn Classic weekend officially begins, Thursday, September 26th with an open practice to prepare for the $17,000 to win weekend.  Practice will begin at 6:00 p.m. with free Grandstand Admission, and $20 pit passes.

Friday and Saturday, Pit Gates open at 2:00 p.m., fans can find their seat at 4:00 p.m., and American Ethanol Qualifying begins at 7:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $20 on Friday, and $30 on Saturday, with $40 pit passes each day.
